Kill For You: A gripping psychological thriller with a killer twist

It is interesting to read a book by a UK author. The switching of  double quote (“) and single quotes (‘) is interesting, and frankly probably makes more sense.  If you weren’t aware, in the UK dialogue uses just a single quote instead of the double quotes as it does in the US.

So as I read this book, with the exception of chapter one, it kind of reads like a gay romance novel. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it just is not the “gripping psychological thriller with a killer twist” I was expecting.  Now about ⅔ of the way through the book, maybe ¾ of the way that does change.  In some ways I think this is a little too long for me.  I struggled through some parts of the book, waiting to move away from this romance that was quickly becoming unhealthy and controlling.

I did finish the book, and that last ¼  I read in a single sitting, unable to put the book down. It was good.

As I read another thriller book, there are a few troupes:

The first chapter of the book is about death, someone dies or recently died. In this case that person was the brother.

Two, there is always a viewpoint change. From the victim to another family member.

Three, the victim is an artist.

And well maybe that is it for now. Maybe these are not all troupes, but it is a parallel with another book, "The Niece" which I just barely started.

Now, some spoilers are coming up so look away now.

There were a few aspects of the book that struck me as unrealistic.

Mostly the ending of the book, Angie stealing the money back. Not sure how things are in the UK, but receiving a lot of money from many different accounts into her own account, which previously was by a not particularly well off student would likely trigger a SAR (suspicious activity report). When the police looked into her weeks later, they likely would have noted this. At least I think so. I do work in a bank, but I am not the police.
