The Cracked Slipper
The Cracked Slipper was a fun and compelling read. It started out a bit slow, as it was almost exactly like the story of Cinderella, just with different names. However, after getting past the first few chapters, I definitely got pulled in. This is the story of what might have happened after Cinderella and the Prince got married - the “happily ever after” part of their story that we always just assume is sunshine and roses for the rest of their lives.
In this story, “Prince Charming’s” name is Gregory, which is fitting, because he isn’t charming at all. Gregory’s best friend is an eligible bachelor named Dorian, who catches Eleanor’s eye and heart as soon as she meets him, which is just a little too late. She is already in a relationship with Prince Gregory.
The book is a twist on a classic love story with characters and a plot that pulls you in. I empathized with Eleanor as she goes through trials and dilemmas that any young woman may relate to.
The story ends on a cliff-hanger, so I can’t wait to pick up the next book in the trilogy.
